About the opportunity
This internship covers the global procurement processes that support Jane Street’s technology and operations. Interns work directly with full-time procurement specialists and see both the pre-purchase and post-purchase work required to source goods and services for a global firm.
What you will work on
- Developing and executing requests for proposal.
- Negotiating with vendors and comparing quotes that may not be directly comparable.
- Managing inventory and raising purchase orders.
- Coordinating global logistics.
- Analysing spending data and researching future sourcing decisions.
Your main project may focus on making an internal process more efficient or researching and planning a sourcing initiative. Mentors come from different parts of the procurement team, so interns are exposed to planning, execution, and problem solving across the full purchasing lifecycle. Project work is supplemented by seminars, desk discussion, and classes explaining how procurement fits into Jane Street’s broader business.
What Jane Street looks for
The strongest fit is someone genuinely interested in supply-chain management, global sourcing, inventory, logistics, or transportation. A degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related field is useful but not presented as a hard requirement. High proficiency in Excel, clear written and verbal communication, initiative, collaboration, and comfort with ambiguous problems are important.
